DVS to hold free rabies vaccination programme for dogs in Sarikei

SARIKEI: The state Veterinary Services Department (DVS) will be conducting free mass rabies vaccination programme for dogs in four districts across this division, beginning this Thursday.

According to the department, the programme for Julau District will take place at Brooke Fort, Meluan on Feb 22, while for Pakan District, it will be at Laman Pakan on Feb 23. Each session will run from 9am to 4.30pm.

Here, the vaccination exercise will be held at Taman Susur Jambu basketball stadium on Feb 24 – also from 9am to 4.30pm, while for Meradong District on March 3, the venue will at Tulai Memorial Hall where the exercise will run from 9am to 5pm.

“The  free vaccines are meant only for  dogs from the district where each exercise is conducted.

“Dog owners must bring along their identity documents to facilitate the registration process,” DVS Sarawak reminded.

They are advised to bring all their pets  for the free vaccination, except those already vaccinated last year.

“The core objective of the programme is to ensure that Sarikei Division would be free from rabies.

“In this regard, members of the public are strongly reminded not to bring dogs from any rabies-infected areas in Sarawak to the programme,” DVS Sarawak stressed.
